The 4WD on my '99 Cherokee sport works but once I am engaged and try and disengage it sometimes stays in 4WD. When it finally comes out, it does so with quite a large thud. Any ideas on what the problem is?
Also, my fuel gauge only works intermittently. It sometimes reads correctly and other times reads as empty. Again, suggestions? |

Check for a clean ground for the fuel sender on the fuel tank or in the instrument cluster. If the 99 4wd is operated by a vacumn - check to make sure you dont have any leaks in the system. I believe there is a cannister up under the front bumper. |

Chrysler also has issues with the fuel level sending units. Unfortunatly, you can only get that with the pump assembly from the dealer. Big $$. I used my trip odo for about a year until my wife ran out of gas one day...then I had to replace it
