93 Blazer

I have a 93 blazer that ran, but now it won't start. I changed the plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and fuel filter. It ran for a few days and then quit. It turns over but she won't start. Let it sit for the night and it started, ran it for awhile and it quit, won't start. I then changed map sensor, and pick-up coil. It will start and run for awhile then quit. I need some suggestions!

Sounds like a fuel problem. Can you check your fuel pressure? If the truck was running fine before you started your work, go back and make sure your connections are tight etc. Make sure the fuel filter was installed with the "Flow" arrow in the right direction. When the truck runs, does it run o.k.? How long does it run before it dies?

Re: 93 Blazer

yea definately sounds fuel related to me. Try spraying some starter fluid into your injector and see if it starts up without sitting overnight. If it does than that will back you up that it is fuel related.

Not all starting problems have to be electrical. Keep that in mind next time before you begin throwing parts at it. Make sure to properly diagnose before wasting money.

Re: 93 Blazer

Yip, check fuel pressure and also do you have the TBI or CPI 4.3l?

Could it be that the vent on the gas tank is blocked?

Re: 93 Blazer

As stated above, check your fuel pressure, also pull your upper plenum and check the CPI/Nut kit..

After you check fuel pressure and plenum, if theylook OK, check your firing. My 93 S-10 Blazer just had the ignition module (in distributor) and coil replaced. Had same startup issues. Sometimes would run, other times would not. Got worse and worse til it would not run at all. But yes, check the fuel pressure first. As these guys will tell you, it has to have a fair amount, (I think 55+lbs) just to START.

Remove the top IMTV valve under your vortec top name plate and take a flashlight and climb up and take a look into the injector area and look for pools of gas, golden washed spotsa and the smell of gas.
