1988 Escort stalls and studders
Hopefully someone can help me, i have been dealing with this for almost 3 months and i cant figure it out. When i first bout the car i changed the spark plugs and the wires, when i went to take out the spark plugs two of them were stuck as i was trying to remove them they ends of them broke off and may have fell in the engine. but the car ran fine so i didnt worrie about them. about 2 months later it started stalling at idle or when i would come to a stop and would studder or choke on take off.
i thought it would be the PCV valve but i cant find out where it is located or if this model even has one.. please help me..Thanks Matt |

What size engine do you have, and is it a CFI or Multi-port injection system?

If your engine is a multi-port fuel injection the PCV valve is located on top of the valve cover. If, it's a CFI (Central Fuel Injected) it has a orfice type system. Identified by a round metal air filter housing. Since you have changed the plugs and wires recently, did you change the distributor cap and rotor? Sometime a fuel injector will stick and the engine will stumble. If you think that could be the problem I would put a can of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank.
