Hi all. I just bought a new keyless remote for my 99 Cougar and could not get any of the codes listed in this forum to work. If you had the same problem, I found the code that actually works.
This is what I did to get it to work: Turn your key from OFF to RUN (2nd position) 4 times in six seconds and turn the key back to OFF. Your alarm light should stay fully lit instead of flashing like normal. While it's fully lit, press any key on the remote. The alarm light will flash indicating the remote was accepted. At this point, turn your key to the ON position (1st) and then RUN (2nd) and the alarm light will turn off, indicated the remote is programmed. Take the key out and test the remote. This should work, (it did for me anyway). I'd be interested to see if this worked for anyone else =) Heidi |

Re: 99 Cougar Keyless Remote Code Actually Works!
Yes, it works. It is the same process for all 99-02 Cougars. Here is a picture of the exact process shown on the Ford programming procedures sheet: (M)
