Unhappy Is this prob what i think it is?

I have the 89 CRX HF as people should know by now and i am doing the motor swap cause i think that my HF has just played out. I am getting water shooting out of my coolant res. i have changed hoses thermo radiator cap and everything else i can think of to correct. So my question Do i have a blown Head gasket. I am not getting water and oil to mix but it seems like i am getting exaust pressure into my coolant system causeing it to build up too much pressure and shoot it out the coolant res. Anyone run across this before?

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

Yes Exactly. where is it going the only reason i think it is all going out the res is because when i park i make a puddle and that is where it is coming from(the cool. res.)

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

run a compression/leakdown test. Doesnt sound like a blown headgasket to me because nothing is mixing? oil--coolant....

Is it burning smoke?

Id first check to see if there is a crack in your radiator or coolant resivor, or maybe even some hoses?

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

I have replaced every hose that carries coolant, changes water pump, thermo, readiator cap, and the radiator is only 6 mo. old I did a compression test thru the spark plug holes and it held fine. But i put a pressure test on the radiator i get almost 80 PSI without a pressure release and the water is spewing from the cool. res.

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

I know it's coming out of the res. it's under so much pressure that is is coming out around the top where the cap screws on and there are no cracks is the res. i am wondering if anyone has seen a blown head gasket do this, either way i am going with the motor swap but i am just curious to see what is causing this prob. for future refrence.

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

Is it overheating? Generally for coolant to be shooting out of the resivor like that it is boiling, which is way to hot.

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

once all the water boils out it over heats but as long as there is water it does not over heat. and also during all this process when i am in 4th and 5th gears the heater inside isn't very warm except on take off and crusing about 55 in third.

Re: Is this prob what i think it is?

i'm willing to bet money it's

A) blown head gasket
B)cracked block

Take your radiator cap off. Crank your car.... IF water shoots out then it's a blown head gasket. if it doensn't then nothing is wrong you're just seeing things. you can email me or IM me i'll help get this solved
