Gas gauge question

I have a '98 GM and it seems like the gas gauge has a mind of its own for the past 2 days. It goes to random places from full to empty to 1/2 tank.

Does anyone have any insight as to what would be causing this to happen? I did have the gas tank replaced a few months back because I drilled a hole in it trying to install an audio amplifier :P, but have had no problems until now.

-Thanks!

Re: Gas gauge question

I'd think it is the sending unit in the tank. If the tank was replaced at a shop, I'd take it back and let them know about the problem, see if you can't get it fixed for free.
