Useless 4 wheel drive?

Ever since I've owned my blazer I've noticed that when the four wheel drive is switched on. It really makes no diffrence in traction or pull?
the front wheels get a small bit of power, it just seems that it's very weak? anyone else have this problem? Solutions?

I don't get what the problem is.

Are you saying the front wheels dont engage?

Re: Useless 4 wheel drive?

no. they engage there just seems to be a lack in power in the front wheels. almost pointless to use them

I know that, but you are not getting it now?

Your saying you are getting in 4x4 fine enough, but are you expecting a huge torque increase or something?

Re: Useless 4 wheel drive?

no no no...
the 4x4 engages.
the problems it really makes no diffrence at all when i need some extra pull. for example:
I'll be stuck on a snow hill.
4x4 switched on and the back wheels will spin, but there's no movement on the front..
but in the case where the front wheels are off the ground they will rotate when 4x4 is on.
It seems that there is a lack of power going to the front?

Re: Useless 4 wheel drive?

well, then the 4x4 is really no engaging then if the wheels are not turning when in 4x4.

Re: Useless 4 wheel drive?

check the vaccumn actuator under the battery tray for a rip in the black rubber boot. that was what was wrong with mine. if that is fine, then search for a rip or tear in the vacumn lines somewhere.
