Angry RE:my brake lights wont work

95 olds cutlass supreme se
i have had an ongoing problem with the brake lights.they wont work the upper one in the window works but the lower one dont work.the tail lights worktoo.im lost dont know what would cause that.can someone please help!!

I had that same sort of problem a couple of years ago with my 94 cutlass, and I fiddled with the turn signal switch and that was the problem.Hope this helps. [email protected]

Exactly... your turn signal switch is the problem. The lower brake lights are routed through the turn signal switch, while your high mount brake light is not.

You need a new turn signal switch, this is notoriously bad in 94 Cutlasses, you have to replace the switch in the steering column, it cost about $75 and a dealer will charge you 200-300 to put it in, or do it yourself, you have to take off teh steering wheel to do this.
