I am going tonight to look at a 1999 F-250 Super Duty, Crew Cab 4x4 With a powerstroke and short bed. The truck has 170,000 miles on it. It needs some body work. The guy says he hit a deer with it and it needs a front bumper, Grille, Fender, Headlight assembly, and Windshield. He hit this deer 8 months ago and has been driving it ever since. Says it rides and drives great. He says the rest of the truck is not cherry either just mainly small scratches and dings. He used it for farm use and travels up and down gravel country roads.. It has had a ford reman transmission put in it around 50,000 miles ago, the front end was rebuilt 20000 miles ago. It has 2 new batteries, and a new alternator. He is asking $7500 for the truck. I have not seen it yet so what I know is what he has told me and what I have told you. Do you think this is a pretty good buy for this truck? Thanks for the help.

Re: Is this a good buy? - 99 F-250 XLT Super Duty, Crew Cab, 4x4, Powerstroke,.....$7500
Remembering that a 1999 is now 6 years old, and 170,000 miles is a lot of miles, I do not think given your description that I would consider even looking at this truck.
The engine should be no problem as far as wear etc., and although the trans is "new" why? For $6500 I would strongly consider it, not for more. |
