My 2002 Liberty farts

Hi everyone,
I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty with 31K and since last week I hear a noise that comes from the outside. This noise sounds like if my Liberty is farting.
Anybody can tell me what my Liberty has.

We have the same odd sound. Its not consistent enough to determine when or why it happens. But the word "fart" definitely describes it. Please let me know what you find out, and I'll do the same.

Does it seem to happen at very low speed or stopped?

My wife has a 2002 jeep liberty limited it also makes a fart sound , ( it really does sound like some one is siting next to you farting) . It seems to be up near the front on the passenger side. It happens at all times. When the car is stopped, at low speed, at highway speeds etc.


Do you have any ideas what this might be.

there are a few bulletins for noise complaints on the liberty none of which call it a farting noise but do resemble the complaint, one involves replacing front skid plate because it makes contact with the frame at slow speeds when braking and or turning bulletins are only covered under 3yr 36,000 mile warranty see your local dealer and ask them to check for bulletins on the complaint bulletin in reference # 13-001-01
