Cherokee Sport Hesitating

Driving along and suddenly it acts as if it will just turn off. I take my foot off the accelerator and then press it ever so gently, it will spurter and go. My mechanic says I may have gotten rust in my gas tank. Both some engine cleaner, put it in here and it appears fine for a while. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cherokee Sport Hesitating

what year is the jeep, it could be the egr valve opening to soon, try unplugging the vacum to the egr and plugging the line, if it runs better , that could be the problem. A bad egr valve will make it hesitate at lower rpms.

Well fella's looks like it's a nasty piece of hardware called a cps or camshaft positioning sensor...or something. You can locate it under your manifold on the driver side. I'm pricing one out this week. From what I've learned it's easy to change if you can get to it....access from below...gotta get ramps I think
