A4 overheating Turbo

Hello everybody.
I have an Audi A4 from 1997, recently we have replaced the whole engine because the timing belt broke and the engine was blown. We added a new turbo to it but the turbo is overheating, when I open the hood at night it is glowing in a pinkish hue. We exchanged the turbo twice already since but the problem won't go away.
Please help.
Thanks,
Arthur

Well....I have good news and bad news for you.

The good news is, you don't have to keep replacing the turbo. The bad news is, you probably did not have to in the first place. Turbos get very very hot, and it is not uncommon for them to glow. This is normal, even at night

This is also why it is always a good idea to let the car idle for a while after a drive before you shut off the motor. This keeps the oil flowing while allowing the turbo to cool. otherwise the oil will literally bake in the turbo lines and eventually clog them up.

i dont think the intercooler would be the problem...because the air goes from the turbo into the intercooler...not the intercooler into the turbo

If you are convinced it is in fact getting too hot for your particular driving style, you may want to have a look at an exhaust issue. Perhaps the the Cat. converter?
