Steering Problems

Hopefully someone can help me out.

I have a 2002 Impala LS and up until recently has been running great. I had the windshield changed and since then have water leaking on the passenger light where my interior light is. I had it back to the auto body and they changed the window but it is still leaking (I saw trhe posting about how to fix and will take it back to the auto body. I had the brake pads changed twice and now have the problem with the vibration.

The big problem I have now is with the steering and at time the wheel is very hard to turn. A few weeks back I parked in the snow and had trouble getting out (spun the wheeks a bit) and since then the steering is very tight at time (worse than manual steering). I had it o my mechanic and change the steering fluid and recommends I take it to chevy but don't want to get hit with big bucks (warraty ran out) and the lease is up in a couple of months.

Any ideas???????

Re: Steering Problems

Sounds to me like the steering rack is about shot. It will cause rough steering and horrible noises. Check your Power steering fluid. It may be leaking into the boots on the rack. good Luck

I read the article but after speaking to my local mechanic he mentioned I have rack & pinion steering and do not have the ISS. Please bare with me because I do not know alot about how cars work. Is this a true statement?

Already did that and the mechanic mentioned he added some type of additive. At times the steering is great then other cannot turn the wheel. With rack and pinion steering would the lube on the iSS help me out.
