Possible Future Supra Fan

Hey guys... I was driving around earlier today in my 1993 Ford Probe SE (I know.... I know.... ewww) When I spotted a Supra driving by (1994-1998)... And I thought to myself:

"I want a car that I can get up to at least 550 hp... I could sell my Probe SE and get a GT, import a J-Spec KLZE, grab a J-Spec ECU, Forge the Internals, and Turbonate it over 550hp for just $10k-$13k..."

But I mean.. common.. the performance might be great... But Ford Probes are every freakin where... They are common cars, and personally, their looks aren't all to brag about (even with decent kits)

So I got to thinking some more.... Is it possible to get one of the (1994-1998) Supra Turbo for under $15? or am i really kidding myself on that.. Because I know that even though the Supra Turbo has only 320+ hp... Its quite a ride... Its rare, and from what I've researched... you can get it up to over 1,000 hp?

Anyways... If you were me.. What would you suggest?

A) Stick with the original plans of building a 550+HP Ford Probe GT for just under 15 grand.

B) Find a Supra....

(Btw, the reason why i need it to be under 15 grand is due to college. I hope to have 15 grand saved for a project car by the time i graduate...)

Thanks guys.. Yall rock...

Re: Possible Future Supra Fan

It's possible to find one but the chances of it being the cheap are almost impossible. You might get one for 18-20 but that's if you look. I found mine for a very good deal but I also looked for 2 years so it just depends on timing but if ou really want a supra. Don't sell yourself short and build a probe. If you want it bad enough it will happen. I could possible sell you a n/a supra for 10k. Good luck on your search.

Re: Possible Future Supra Fan

n/a supra? "n/a" meaning exactly....? Well... Even if I could just get one of the newer supras, I'm sure that'd be nice...

I mean, could you forge the internals and turbonate it up to above 500 hp? (on a non-turbo supra..) Just a thought... I'll have to definately wait to build up my money for it though... before i can think about purchasing a car... but its good to have dreams... I think this is a fairly realistic one...

Re: Possible Future Supra Fan

n/a means naturally aspirated which is non turbo. You can build the motor and turbocharge it and make it what's called a n/a-t which is just a n/a motor that has a turbo. It's not too expensive but in order to go past 550-600. Your going to have to build the motor and put better internals in it. The internals in it now can hold 400-500 easily right now.

Re: Possible Future Supra Fan

Thanks bro, you are the man....

Also, I've seen quite a few ads for old N/A Supra's for like 300 (repossessed) in places like NY, CA, CO.... Should I be concerned? I mean... seriously, I'm sure the state knows those things are worth more than just 300 bucks....

Something I should know about supras? (Trouble-wise?) Looking through forums and searching online, I hear its a solid car... almost no problems with anything (transmission/interior/block/suspension/exhaust/etc...)

Once again, thanks buddy! I'll keep looking around for a n/a (1993-1998) Supra...

Re: Possible Future Supra Fan

Repo's are not worried about the value of a car in a tuner enthusiast world. They would get rid of one just to cover their money and make some off of it too. That is a way to get your hands on one but some are in pretty bad shape. Best bet is just keep your eyes open and when you get the chance, check it out and take it. Again, good luck in your search. I'll look around for you to for a good price.

yes its possible, this weekend i was gonna go to LA to pick up a 95 TT 6 speed black supra, i was the first caller and everything, all i had to do is go to the bank get some money and on my way... but that same weekend i had a wedding to go to so i got shafted pretty bad here, i was upset yes, because after the wedding i called the guy again and he sold the car, even tho we agreed that i will come and buy it and he said he wont forget about me.. what a punk!!

but what im saying is, yes its possible. rare, but you can find one if you look long enough. Expand your search area and be willing to travel drive or fly, whatever. One advice i can give you is this, make sure its not a scam... scams are usually under 11k for a TT supra so if it seems to good to be true it probably is!! I have dealth will about 30-40 scammers so far... just email them and say you want to come look at the car and they will reply to you and say the car is in italy or rome or blah blah, and they cant register it there... watch out for that. Some scammers are in US as well, so ask for their address , their phone number. Mostly the phone numbers are disconnected or nobody ever picks up if its a scam, so be careful.

I can look around, I don't normally deal with them because of title issues sometimes but I can look around for you and see what turns up.
