braking turns on hazard indicators

When I step on the brakes, the hazard indicator lights on my dash board light up. Anyone know why this could be? I just had new brakes put in 6 months ago, so I wouldn't think bad brakes would be the problem. At the same time, I also sometimes have the problem mentioned earlier where the ABS and TCS warning lights come on occasionally for no reason. I'm not sure all of this is related but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: braking turns on hazard indicators

You have a short in your tail light assembly. If you take them off you will either find melted bulb or circuit board(That is what it is called) short. They cannot be repaired but must be replaced. I have replaced 3 out of 4 of those on my 2 vehicles. You may be able to find them auto recyclers but they are in demand since they are common problem.
If you find them make sure you get the newer ones if at all possible. GM told me that they have redesigned the assembly in 2003.
