Question now about those JIC-Magic SF-1...

All right guys... I know nothing about coilover suspension setups. I am however willing to get the best for my ride. It seems many of you have Eibach setups.

So please give me the in’s and out’s of the JIC-Magic SF-1 set up versus the Eibach, or anything else. Thanks :flash:

I dont know a whole lot, but here i go:
Eiabach's are just a set of springs. You'd need to get a set of struts, either KYB or Koni or something to go with it, because just those springs alone is definitly not a good setup.
JIC Magic's are a full on coilover system. You wont need anything to buy anything else if you get these. Its not a full on race setup, but its good for autocross; stuff like that (which doesnt mean that you need to be doing that in order to get these; just be ready for a stiff ride).

I'd say, join the JIC Magic group buy. You'll never get a deal as good as this.

Luke has mentioned that the JIC's are similar in stiffness to the Teins set on mid stiffness.

The person who bought Luke's car from him (Dan) likes them, and has mentioned that they passed the "girlfriend comfort test".

Sounds good to me...

BTW all the rumors of the JIC being "really stiff" etc, came before anyone actually owned them. I think theres 3 people on this forum now who own them, and none have said the ride is too stiff.

Actually... I must have been feeling a little faint... I forgot the Teins had 16 settings, I thought it was 12 for some reason.

I believe Luke had told me it felt like the Tein's around 5 or 6 (0 being full stiff). Personally I cant tell the difference on the Teins with anything below 8, it all feels the same..

Well riddle me this Batman... I've been reading all the threads about the JIC-Magic SF-1, it has everything I need for a new and better suspension set up for a lotta money.
But is there another set up for a little less and for someone who doesnt know the difference between the very best? Should't I crawl before I walk?

little rude girl from what i have read the best we can get is a complete coil-over suspension kit. jic. correct me if i'm wrong gurus the next option in price down is the teins, about $835. very good from what i've read. there are also quite a few different setups if you want to choose your own shocks and coils. all of these vary in price. there is a lot of info. in the archived threads, but putting it all together, well i haven't quite done that yet.:smoker2:

Tein:

Tein.com is there US site but it doesnt have the G20 stuff on there... you'll have to go to www.tein.co.jp and look for TYPE NA, Primera HP11

Ground Control:

www.groundcontrol.com these are just springs and perches, you'll still need shocks...

My suggestion....

If you want to lower your car and thats it, get the Tein. $900

If you want to lower your car but get some performance out of it go with Ground Control with some shocks. AGX or Koni. $800 to $1000 depending on shocks.

If you want the best performance improvement get the JIC. $1085 right now, $1350 normally.

Some notes....

The JIC is by far superior in terms of design alone. 1pc coilovers, shortened bodies, pillow ball mounts.

The Tein is just a lowering kit for looks, thats what Tein defines their NA kit as. You get a lot of adjustability on the shocks, but only 3 height settings. (Low, too low, and far too low).

The GC/Koni combo is good, but as always GC's squeek or clank, etc. This is because the Ground control sleeve is not directly attached to the shock. The GC/AGX has been heavily used in the SR community, but then again the only alternative was using GAB shocks..

Any stock shock/spring combo is a big POS. I've driven every possible P11 suspension setup except JIC and B&G, in either my car or other P11's. So far the best has been GC/Koni minus the noise, next would be Tein NA, its not as good as the GC/Konis, but for street driving its better than any stock shock/spring combo...

Yep, I like them. I don't have the SF-1 package though. Mine are SA-1, so the damping isn't adjustable. I also have the stiffer springs.

They're definitely pretty firm on some surfaces (especially a rough concrete freeway like the 405) at speed, but for around-town cruising they're surprisingly comfortable. My brother has GC/AGX coilovers on his 200SX SE-R and that setup definitely feels more harsh.

I haven't been to the track, but the handling is pretty awesome. Luke can probably comment on the track performance.
