My weekend of yet another car breakdown.

OK FYI, here has been my troubles this past 2 months.

Middle of december....my clutch is going out, so I order a new clutch and get it installed on a wednesday. On friday my transmission/TC bust and I have to order another of each. Total bill for parts/labor so far = $4200.

A month later, I get a flat tire on my passenger rear tire. Go to change my tire....and can't find my lock nut key for my car. The damn mechanic that fixed my clutch stole it! So I get a local shop guy to bust the nut off and change my tire.

Fast forward to friday night. Get into my hometown (1.5 hour drive -- I do it every weekend) and my CV joint is REALLY bad. My car is shaking all to hell, and occasionally jerks my car to the left. Get into town at 4pm, shop closes at 5. They actually fix the CV Joint and get it out of there at like 5:15. Take the car, drive around, 10 minutes later it busts. This is where it gets interesting. When they installed the new CV Joint, it WASN'T THE RIGHT ONE! They installed the wrong one, and the CV Joint wasn't the right size, so it popped out of socket and flew up and broke something else, AND it broke off my oil pressure sensor as well.

So yeah, hopefully my car will be OK from now on

Re: My weekend of yet another car breakdown.

well some good things came out of it....

my tranny came out of a 93 vr4 so now my 92 vr4 (18 spline tranny) now has a 25 spline tranny/transfer case

Well thats cool, but it was an expensive switch going about it that way. How many miles does your car have on it again?

Re: My weekend of yet another car breakdown.

it's got 106k on it now. bought it feb of 03 with 83333 on it. I was driving pretty low mileage (~7k/year) but now I go home every weekend and rack them up fast.

I had to get a new tranny, since mine was shot, and I just happened to get lucky and get one from a 93 vr4

Re: My weekend of yet another car breakdown.

Wow, sorry to hear about all the bad luck...but if you believe in karma, then you probably going to inherit a pair of 15Gs or a huge FMIC...

Re: My weekend of yet another car breakdown.

At the beginning of March I'm taking my bonus from work and dumping it into my car if everything goes right.

Re: My weekend of yet another car breakdown.

I know it hurts the wallet, same troubles except the CV joint, mine was the control arm. It also happened over the course of the year. I'm like maybe now the car will be fine, but alas I must take it to the transmission shop again for strange noises. Good luck (I could've saved that money and bought a vr4..........DAMN)

IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A GOOD IDEA TO TELL THE MECHANIC THAT PUT YOUR AXEL IN THAT YOUR CAR HAD A DIFFRENT TRANNY.AND MAYBE IF YOU DIDN'T SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON YOUR SYSTEM YOU WOULD HAVE A LITTLE MONEY TO PUT IN TO YOUR CAR.

How he chooses to spend his money is his own perogative. Just like how you choose to spend your time here on AF is your own perogative. However, if you continue to bring back 2 year old threads just to stir up drama, I can gaurentee the time you spend here will be short-lived. Please reread the AF User Guidelines you agreed to when joining.
