ran Musashi at the track. 15.6@91mph

Well the whole story was that my friend has been bugging me to go get a timeslip before I start the next stage of mods.
He has a 2004 STI and I also wanted him to run so we can see where we each stand as drivers. last Wednesday 2/9/2005 I ran a friend in his Civic Ex, he wanted to see how he would do..........he didnt do much at all but eh.
I didnt like the fact that it actually took me about 1000 ft just to pass him so I began to wonder if my car has slowed down.....did I break something? It did feel "slower" but I couldnt tell why. So I call up my friend with the STI and tell him about the run, he says "only one way to be sure bro, you gotta run it at Moroso." ok why not I say.
Friday night we head out after work at 6:30 p.m. to Moroso. it is a 2 hour drive from Miami to Jupiter where the track is. My friend decides he dosent want to waste gas, he dosent show in the STI.....guess I'm running solo then. we got to the track at 9:20 p.m. cause of traffic. I paid the $15.00 and pulled up to the inspection lane, passed and on to the long line o cars before actually pulling up to the christmas tree. it took me an hour just to get to the line!
so here is the deal. My master clutch cylinder is gone, I'm leaking to the point I have to refill the resivour every weekend. If I launch the preasure causes the cylinder to leak even more and I get air in the line which craps out my shifting. My tires are crap, I got some cheep Hankook Ventus HII and they suck ass, I miss my Falkens! and of course my car was "tired" after driving for 120 miles non-stop for almost two hours. So I pull up stage and wait for the tree to count down, I couldnt launch cause of the clutch fluid leak but I did get a nice and solid take off. I had my car at full weight, spare tire and all, half tank, some books and my sword in the trunk and my helmet in the passenger seat (it wassnt required but just in case). I didnt bother to warm up the tires either, again cause of the stupid master cyl. but hey 120 miles of road should of warmed them up enough. My reaction time was crap, I think its cause I didnt really launch it and was scared to bug out so I took it easy on the take off. anyway here are the results.

R/T 1.126
60 2.534
330 6.765
1/8 10.190
MPH 71.49
1000 13.145
1/4 15.622
MPH 91.54

My last run was 15.5 about a year ago and back then I puled the spare out, pulled the passenger seat off, and had Yokohama AVS100 which are really freaking sticky. all and all I'm happy she is still runing well and the next stage of mods should drop me around 15.2 or so.

Your 60' killed you. Another thing I cant figure is your 1/8th time. I usually run about 10.1-10.2 in the 1/8th but I am SOHC. My best run was a 15.78 with just a test pipe. Fix your master cylinder and get it back to the track to get a better guage on your times.

Re: Re: ran Musashi at the track. 15.6@91mph

Test pipe alone put my SOHC in the 15's. Hell I ran best of 16.02 completely stock so I almost hit 15's stock. I drive about 70 miles to get to my "local" race track. Its not to bad though because its basically a straight shot. I could always move closer to the track. But test and tune is $15 for Pittsburgh Raceway. I know one night I got 10 runs in and stopped running on my own because it was just beating the crap out of the car. I watched for about an hour after I quit.

Re: ran Musashi at the track. 15.6@91mph

damn i am baffled why my car is so slow then my best time was 16.9 is yours an auto or a manual and what kind of tires did you use?
maybe i shuld change the sparkplugs and do a little tune up......

i find this strange because i was running on 99+ octane gas

Re: ran Musashi at the track. 15.6@91mph

Old and good, 99+ will kill your performance...you aren't running turbos, so you don't need that extra octane. Stick with 91 if you are in an NA...higher octane doesn't equal more power. The only reason to use race gas is if you are turbo or supercharged and want to turn up the boost WAY up.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Agreed. Higher octane requires more energy to burn. You always want to use the minimum amount possible without detonation. Also old and good I am assuming your car is auto if those are the best times you are pulling?

Re: ran Musashi at the track. 15.6@91mph

yes is yours a manual? actualy in iceland the lowest octane fuel you can get is 95oct and then the v-power 99+ oh and esso sells 98octane.

maybe the gas here is measured in a different way.... what is premium fuel in the u.s. in octanes?
anyway i wuld be happy to get mine in to low 16 or high 15's

Wow... Premium here is 93, 91 is the middle grade, 87 is regular.
