power seat
My 94 Tbird driver-side power seat won't go forward. It will go every which way but forward just fine. Does anyone know of anything I could try to fix it? Or could it be a wiring problem?

You said the seat would move in all directions but forward so I figured it would go back which means the motor is alright. If it doesn't go back try the following. Unplug the connector at the seat motors under the seat and trace the two wires that go to the fwd/rwd motor. 1997 colors of the two wires are Y/W and R/W. They are pins 1 and 4 in 1997. Your year may be different colors or pin numbers so trace the wires to the motor to be sure you are using the right wires. Make a note of the colors of the two wires going to the motor for later reference. Connect a jumper wire from the pos battery terminal to one of the wires going to the motor at the connector. Then connect another jumper wire to the other wire going to the motor and momentarily connect the other end of the jumper to a good ground point. The motor should run in one direction. When you reverse the jumpers at the connector the motor should run in the other direction. If the motor doesn't run at all, replace it. If the motor runs in both directions, reconnect the connection at the motors and unplug the connector at the seat switches. Using the same two jumper wires, connect them to the two wires that are the same color as the ones going to the motor by first connecting the one from the battery and then momentarily grounding the other jumper. This is why I told you to make a note of the wire colors earlier. On a 1997 they are pins 3 and 8. The motor should run in one direction and when you reverse the jumpers it should run in the other direction. This test checks the wiring harness between the switch and the motor. If the motor still works in both directions then replace the switch. If it doesn't the check the wiring harness between the switch and the motor for a broken wire. One thing of caution to remember is to not let the jumper wire from the battery touch ground at any time or sparks will fly!!!!!!!!!

When I press the button for the seat to move backwards, the motor runs but the seat doesn't move; due to the fact I drive with my seat all the way back and because I can't move it forward. However when I press the button for the seat to move forward, there is silence. The seat will move up and down, so it's just the forward that doesn't work. So it may sound like the switch is bad.

My passenger seat has the same problem. Try this, push the button foward and at the same time pull on something in attempt to move your whole body foward. This is what makes mine go foward. I have to explain it to all my friends. UGH.
