window regulator installation

I'm going to attempt to replace my driver side window regulator and I was just wondering if anyone had replaced their own before. Is it a difficult process, and are there any tips that might come in handy? I can't imagine that it would be that difficult, but I have come to expect the unexpected from the old Alero. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't replaced one on an Alero, but my manual says the regulator / motor assembly is riveted into the door panel, which is standard for most vehicles. You'll have to drill out the rivets and install the new regulator with bolts and nuts or use new rivets. Also, once you get it out, you'll have to unbolt the old one from the motor and bolt the new one to it. It also says you need to remove the window, but without seeing it up close, its hard to say whether you can work around it or not.

Good luck and let me know how it goes if you do it.

Re: window regulator installation

Thanks for the information! That sounds a little more involved than I had hoped, but I think all will be well. I just ordered the regulator this afternoon, so it should be the weekend before I can start. I appreciate the help and I'll let you know how it goes.
