93 ranger starting problems

i have a 1993 ford ranger, 6 cyl, 4.0 liter, automatic. when i try to start it, it just makes a clicking noise. we replaced the starter solenoid relay, and had the starter tested. the starter was bad, so we replaced it. still, i get the clicking sound when trying to start the vehicle. the battery is fine, etc. any ideas for what else could be wrong? i had difficulty getting the truck to turn over for about 3 days before, it just stopped starting. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

So when you turn the key does it
key on:'click click click click click....' key off: ''
or just
key on: 'click' key off: 'click'

If you turn the key and it just goes click click click click over and over, usually that means your battery doesn't have enough power.

The second situation would be a bad connection from the solenoid to the starter.

What kind of difficulty? Make sure your engine isn't frozen. Also the teeth could be screwed on the fly wheel. Did you check the teeth when the start was out?

Re: 93 ranger starting problems

Start simple, check battery ground wire from battery to motor. Then check ground strap from engine to frame. Both must be clean and tight. Hope this helps. Later. Mark.
