CD Changer

Can anyone help?

I have a '97 Accord with the factory 6-disc changer in the trunk. From time to time when playing a cd the sound will shift to on speaker and be really muffled or very low. The radio works fine, I never have a problem with the volume or anything, just the cd changer? Any ideas?

Thanks,
B

No, all the speakers work fine when I am just listening to the radio, but when the cd player is on, sometimes both speakers on the right side will cut out, and other times all the speakers seem to go out, and sometimes they work fine.

Re: CD Changer

I'm having a similar issue with mine. Most of the time the entire left channel will not play or play at a really low volume. The speakers and radio are fine (verified by selecting each speaker individually). Once in awhile the CD plays from all 4 channels. No idea why.

My only guess is that the laser is out of allignment, but I don't want to spend the money to have some pro tell me that.

I have a 98 civic, factory installed 6 CD changer in the trunk. Hoping someone has some ideas on how to debug this. Thanks.

Re: CD Changer

I'd recommend cleaning the laser lens first. You can use one of those disk cleaner cd's, but the best way is to remove the unit, take the top off, and blow it out with compressed air. See if that does the trick. Sometimes, it's the easiest solution.
