smoking

I have a 1992 bonneville se. It was sitting for about 2 months without being started. Once I got a new battery and started it, I saw a little white smoke coming off the engine around the spark plugs and exhaust manifold. Someone told me to change the valve cover gasket, which I did, but I still see the smoke. The engine is smooth, just worried about the smoke. Not quite sure what to do?
