240 Sr20 AWD swap?

hello all! just wondering if it is possible to make a 92 240 awd i was looking at sr20det awd engines and wonderin what i need to make it all work. i was thinking maby sentra or G20 cv shaft and hubs? if anyone has ever done this pls let me know how it went and if it was cost effective.

Well, this is changing from FWD to AWD, but it's still a cool idea. I got this from DanOmyte of Club S12 (thanks, dan!)

"This isn't RWD, but it does involve it powering the rear wheels. An idea was brought up somewhere, I think Grassroots Motorsports magazine, where a mid-engined, AWD vehicle was created by using a standard FWD drivetrain. I always kept it in the back of my mind because I thought it was such a neat idea.



You basically take your standard FWD engine and transmission, and mount it in place of the passenger seat in a north-south fashion. The CV joints that would normally power the front wheels, are now sticking out towards either end of the car. Custom axles would need to be made to run from the transmission output shafts to two differentials at each end of the car. One for the back, one for the front. Sort of like 4x4 truck. Have both of the axles connect to both of these differentials, and boom, you've got yourself an all wheel drive car.

But not only that, all of the engine and transmission weight is now centered directly in the center of the car, making it handle like no other car out there. You could also run independant suspension setups at both the front and the rear of the vehicle for even less unsprung weight.

It would take a ton of engineering to accomplish, but you could potentially make an B18C AWD Integra with perfect weight balance."

I never heard of the 240 i heard of the Skyline in 07 but a 240!>?!> an S16 i presume? It better be awesome and not like a damned G35...wow...are there any pics out? besides the point....RWD is soooooo much better IMO then AWD!

The G35 coupe is sickkkk, my uncle just got one with the M6 Sport Package, 6speed manual, 298hp, 19" rims, I can't wait to go see it this summer (he's in Toronto).

As long as they make a different version that's a FR then i wouldn't mind. Nissan would be rollin in dough if that happened.

The one thing i love about the G35 is the engine / exhaust tone... it's so damn sexy when it takes off... gawd..

Theres The Bluebird AWD SR20... It goes in the sentra. The last guy with a AWD 240 for sale had JB Welded Hole in the block of his RB.



The 240SX your refering to is gonna be a shrunken G35 / 350Z / 350GT and unless it comes with the NEO SR20 its gonna be wack.

WTF. An AWD SR20 bluebird engine to make it AWD. So 2.0l AWD eh? Try a DSM douchebag. Converting a car to AWD is something I'm gonna leave to car companies that can dump thousands of dollars into R&D so it doesn't fall apart the first time out. Or better, so it works properly. Jeez....

keep in mind the g35 is a base model. THe r version is the one that will be the next r model skyline. I thought everyone new this, so of course the g35 is wack compared to the skylines your comparing them too. But i have no doubt on the new one. Yea logik thats sweet. My mom has the SEDAN!!! lol o well its cool for a mom. She rolls in style. SHe had my 240 before she gave it to me....my mom kicks ass.

they say the 240 will come out....i dunno i doubt it still. Although i would be interested in buying it for my first BRAND NEW car, but who knows. If its not a turbo ill probly pass on it.

i think a AWD 240 would be sick! but im retarded rember? anyways its a good way of putting HP to the ground rather that spinning the wheels, which i could do in my stock ka24de engine before i blew it! so anyways it would be a good ideal for a rally car! peace and Hate to all the haters.

I love the 240sx but making a 240sx awd is pretty dumb. And an sr20 engine. I hope you know the loss of power due to all wheel drive.
