Re: fuel pump
Have not heard of rebuilding a fuel pump in many years.
The floor board idea is interesting though. How big a hole do you need?? What position is the hole needed in??? I know I don't have those answers...... JD |

The only thing different is that he runs a inline fuel pump. |

That would be a big hole...around 4".
***WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!*** you could just put a frame rail pump on it to boost the pressure. ***END OF WARNING****

Re: fuel pump
You can buy reconditioned fuel pumps from dealers I think? I wouldn't recommend cutting a hole and dropping it. It would be a tight squeeze trying to slide it in place, like trying to put two hands in a pickle jar.

You would have to use one that matches your flow and pressure requirements. I don't have those specs handy. There really are only a few pump manufacturers. You shouldn't need to remove the old pump as long as it is working (remember, your just boosting pressure). If it dies, you will though.

Re: fuel pump
A wierd soultion:
My Jeep came with a ford fuel pump. no, it doesn't fit like the original. it's a real rig job, but the previous owner opted to put it in instead of the expensive replacement. basically, just mount it (mine is near the airbox), run your fuel lines, and run a wire piggybacked from the appropriate relay lead to the fuel pump, and ground to the chassis. It's not pretty, but when I found out how much it cost to replace it the "right way", I didn't mind the ugliness nearly as much. |
