Kawasaki Ninja 250R: couple of questions

Hi, I'm new here and thinking about getting a bike. I've read the sticky and checked out some reviews at eopinions.com and I think the Ninja is about perfect for me. I just had a couple of questions I couldn't find answers for, and if you guys could help me out with those, I'd appreciate it.

- how much trunk space is there? I shop or buy groceries sometimes in my moped, and I've been able to fit textbooks in there. Groceries wise, I can just put them on the foot-rest area.

- what exactly is the "breaking-in period?" I mean, is it where you have to only go 30mph or something?

- when people say the ninja has "soft front suspension," does that mean that if you hit a bump or a pothole, you're crotch is gonna feel it?

Once again, thanks for your help guys.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 250R: couple of questions

Trunks? What are those? It's a sacrafice to have a "sporty" bike... you lose storage... besides, that's what your jacket or tank bag are for.

Breaking-in refers to the RPM limit that you are supposed to abide by for the first 600 or so miles. I can't be certain of exactly the mileage because I've actually never broken-in a bike... It's sorta a way to make sure the bike is assembled correctly. There is another "method" for breaking a bike in, but manufacturers do not approve of it, so I won't mention much more.

As for soft suspension... yes, your body will feel a lot more than on something with stiffer suspension, HOWEVER, if you merely stand on your pegs and let your legs absorb the energy, most bumps are hardly a thing.

Another thing, I assume by your bike of choice that you are new to riding. Have you taken the MSF Safety course? I STRONGLY recommend it to obtain basic skills, and perhaps your motorcycle license and an insurance discount.

Speaking of MSF is there a link or somthing that i can find for ANY local motorcycle training course? My DMV only requires a written test,
but i would rather learn the way with the least bumps and bruses to my bike.
