speakers
my friend has a 98 civic and he just got new speakers for it and he needs to take off the peice behind the back seats but he cant figure out how to get it off he said it looks like there are 3 rivets but i dont know i didnt look at it so if someone could tell me how it comes off that would be great

That's called the rear deck. It's not really tough, but in a little car like a civic, it's a tight space. What you'll have to do is move the two back seats down, from there you'll need to pop to clips/rivets out of their place on the pillar, as well as the side panels. After you pop all those out, you'll need to disconnect the 3rd brake light connector from the deck. To do so, go in the trunk and you'll see a connector attached to the light, take that off. Then you'll just need to pop some of the other clips that holds the base of the deck on and there you go.
All you'll have to do then is just take off the retaining screws for the speakers, disconnect their connectors, put in the new ones, connect the connectors, and screw the retaining screws back in and you're bumpin'.

i have been able to switch mine many times without taking it out. you just need some leverage.

i looked at his doors today and and where the speaker is looks like its seperate from the rest of the door panel so my question is is it actually seperate and if so it it just cliped in or are there screws holding it also?

If you want to get out the speakers on the front doors, all you have to do is pop that speaker cover out, then unscrew the speaker retaining screw, and disconnect the connector and that's it.
