po442 code

my scanner gives me a "po442 Emission system leak small" on my 96 blazer. how do i fix this? where do i start?

P0442 is a small leak in the EVAP system. Check the gas cap. Check the lines.

Could also be either a leaking vent valve or purge valve. Very difficult to check at home. Dealer has a nitrogen-smoke pressure setup to check for leaks. Even then not easy.

Yea, first thing to do is tighten the gas cap.

After you find the problem, the light might take a week or better to go out on it's own.
