Low Idle and stalls before full warmup
I have the 5.3 vortec which has always run perfectly. Lately I notice that after short 2 minute warmup and drive away, it stalls and the idle fluctuates around 400/500rpm instead of the 700 rpm when it was new. Even when the engine is totally warmed up, if I stop too fast, it will stall. Also, fuel gauge is erratic and flopps down to empty then flips back to half tank with no warning. What's up with this? Injectors? Fuel pump?
Any good guesses? Thanks, |

Re: Low Idle and stalls before full warmup
Hi,
the fuel gauge problem is mentioned in other posts, the sending unit in the tank can get some deposits on it and get 'bad spots' where it does not read. As for the idle problem, do you have any DTC's? 500 RPM idle is acceptable, the stalling is not. Have you cleaned the throttle body? Any air intake leak? Checked the connection to the mass airflow sensor? Take care, Eggert
