Gear Ratios...

Okay, my friend has an 1992 MR2, and his uncle changed his gear ratios so that his redline is now 7500 instead of 6900, it also made his car a LOTTTT faster than it used to be, i used to be able to smoke him, now hes keepin up with me side by side, how would i change my gear ratios to make my car faster? he said all he did was have his uncle go into his gear box and change the ratios, how would i do this?

Re: Gear Ratios...

Gear ratios have nothing to do with changing redline. Not that he didnt change ratios, or change his redline, but the two are unrelated. Unfortunately for you there are no alternative gear ratios available. For the turbo trannys there are some other options. As far as changing redline, there are ways to do that, but you need to make other changes before a higher redline will be beneficial.
