Unhappy Trans Problems, LINCOLN LS

Lately I have notice that when I change from REVERSE to DRIVE... the gear takes a lot to change (when it changes, it will KICK)...This problem doesnt happen always....should I be worried?...what might that be?....what should I do?.

My lincoln LS V6 is a 2000-2001 sport pkg.

Re: Trans Problems

i have had this happen to my 00 LS Sport V6 4 times so far. Well let me say it has been repaired four times. The solenoid pack replaced 4 times and valve body has been replaced one time, most recent repair.

It will get worse and upshifting will become hesitant if it hasnt already. I would have it fixed. Call the lincoln elaer and ask to speak with the lead tech or senior service advisor and interview them. Ask if they have experice with this issue but do not let on that you know what the problem is.

call a couple just to see what they say. I would recomed finding a AAA approved Lincoln repair shop. Do not go to a Ford or thrid party shop they don't know sqaut about these trannies.

Re: Trans Problems

each part avgs about 350 dollars. plus labor and the tranny fluid flush service. So you can count on a pretty stiff bill. A new tranny cost about 1300 dollars but I do not know how many hours are required to remove and install.

I wish I would had known what a new tranny cost back at repair number two or three. i would have gone that route.

I think they give a 3 yr/36k mile warranty on the new tranny though.
