Cool Trans Crossmembers 70 Chevelle conv

Is there a difference between the trans crossmember on a 70 chevelle hardtop & conv?

Should be the same, if you are using one that had the same trans. i.e. auto or manual.

I think you will find the frame on a converitble is boxed from the factory. This means they are not as wide and bolted to a plateform welded to frame not bolted in the open frame. Simply put your hand under the car you can feel the plate sticking out.

Why do you ask are you doing a trans swap?

Yes i'm swapping transmissions and just needed a little info on the cross member. I did find out there is a 7 inch diff between the two. thanks for all your help

Power gluide, TH350, all manuals use the same cross member and frame location.

th200, th400, th700, and the new over drives use a different cross member and frame location. This also means you need to shorten the drive shaft and change yokes.
