Supercharger Rattle

There is a rattling noise coming from the nose of the supercharger when the motor is under a load - in drive or reverse and not moving. Could this be the bearings inside the nose cone or what is the likelihood of this being the impellars rattling? Either way - does this require replacing the entire supercharger or can just the nose cone be replaced? Any and all input/suggestions would be appreciated, this will be an expensive repair.

Re: Supercharger Rattle

I just bought a 98 Supercharged Regal for my son. The previous owner was the original owner and he kept excellent service records on it. I don't know much about the supercharger, but he did document that he has replaced the oil in the Supercharger. Hope this helps.

There is a coupler that goes bad and can cause that noise. You can get a replacement coupler from a site called www.zzperformance.com
You will also need 2 bottles of GM supercharger oil which they also sell.

Hope this help's !
