Free divorce

SYRACUSE, New York (AP) -- Cupid occasionally misses his mark, so a local radio station is running a Valentine's Day contest offering a free divorce.

"Everyone associates Valentine's Day with love, and diamonds, chocolate, roses. But what about those people that hate it? This is for those people," said Scott Petibone, program director at WKRL-FM, a progressive rock station.

The station began promoting its divorce-giveaway last week. By Thursday, the station received over 100 entries, Petibone said. A winner will be selected on Valentine's Day.

The divorce must be uncontested. "We're not looking for the most horrible stories or the most vicious couples," he said.

Some clergy in Syracuse called the contest tasteless.

"A divorce is a death, the death of a dream," said the Rev. Joseph Champlin, rector at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. "You wouldn't make a joke out of someone who died, would you?"

Petibone, who is married, is surprised by such criticism.

"We're not asking happily married couples to get a divorce. The people who are entering want to get a divorce," Petibone said. "If a contest makes you want to get a divorce, then you've definitely got problems."

Ha Ha good to see my town made the national news on a good note for a change. I didn't get to listen this morning so I don't know the story on who won, but this was a great promotion in town as this station is trying to lure listeners away from a competing station (WAQX 95X) which suddenly dropped Howard Stern in December, much to the dismay of his listeners. That story made national headlines as well

Hey honey, its almost valentines day, instead of trying to solve our problems, lets just get divorced, huh?

What a celebration the couple will have. "YAY HONEY, we won the free divorce! What should we do to celebrate?"... "Lets just start early since I just can't wait. I'll sleep in the bedroom, and you can sleep on the couch."... "Hell no, you sleep on the couch." .... "Hell no bitch, you, because I slept there the last 6 times.".....

what a great way to celebrate valentines. If it was me though, Id be smooth and say, "Lets just have a nice romantic Valentines Day, to have a nice goodbye to remember each other by, and make love all day, one last time."

Then I'd be like... "haha.. dumb bitch... I got minessss!! now you can go sleep on the couch, hell, invite your boyfriend to sleep there with you."

Well I don't know about your neighborhood, but around here divorce is becoming more common than staying together.Not sure why,don't know how to fix it, not even sure if it needs fixing...But still...If it's uncontested, surely it's not gonna cost them much for the prize?
