Question whats it gonna cost??

So what would you say is an average price range I can expect to have my muffler installed? Its a universall style without brakets and stuff. Everyplace I call says to bring it in so they can look at it. I wont have time to do that till this weekend. Im sure most everyone on here has had an aftermarket muffler installed, what did it cost you?

The average cost here in San Diego is $100 flat... that includes 2.25-2.5 pipping welded from the cat back to the muffler and all labor.

$100 is pretty cheap. What shop are you talking about? I don't remember seeing a shop that only charged $100 for muffler and custom piping...

Thats for the install of there muffler and to have the pipe replaced with 2.25"?? I called around to the shops here and was quote between 100-125 for the pipe replacement, and another 10-30 dollars for the muffler install, but they said they would have to look at the muffler before they could give me an actuall quote. So I guess I'll just have to go down there so they can look at it.

I ended up going with a DynoMax Super Turbo Muffler. First off it sounds great, nice and low, not droning, and doesnt give you a head ache at WOT. (Listen Here http://www.geocities.com/ake2ly/N240/dynomaxst.wav You have to copy and paste the URL into your browser, The audio is from a Nissan 240 with 2.25" pipe and a dynomax super turbo)
Second, it releases just as much back pressure as most straight through stainless mufflers. And Third, man was it cheap. I am getting it installed Thur. Here is what I am getting, a DynoMax Super Turbo Muffler, Custom Mandrel bent 2.25" Pipe installed from the cat back, and a 4.5" stainless chrome Tip. Total cost for everything including install $205. Damn what a deal.

Strodda, I am also getting my coilovers put on Thur. Sept one of my friends is gonna be doing it while Im at work. I was just gonna have him help but the only time he had was on thur and I work. He said he would do it himself with another one of his friends. Im not gonna complain. So by Lunch break (5 p.m.) Ill have a new catback exhaust/muffler, and a good drop. Think im gonna go about 2" in front 1 - 1.5" in back.

Peace.

maybe its just a temp thing, but i couldnt get the sound to work. says the page is down.

also, are you getting a camber kit?? and ive also been thinkin about lowering the back afterall. but im still tryin to get some help with taking out a rusted and broken lower strut bolt. i cant get the damn strut off till i can get that bolt out.

if you get coilover and a camber kit, do you have to adjust the camber everytime you change the ride height?? would it be worth it to get coilovers, or should i just use the springs i have?? i dont see why i would be changing the height, and if i did, i'd have to go back and adjust the camber kit, and then after that... get it aligned again.

The audio file works for me, you have to copy the URL and paste it into your browser.

Yea, you would have to adjust the camber and the allignment everytime you adjust the coilovers. But the only reason I got coilovers ratherthan springs is so I can raise my car back up durring the winter months.
