fastest PRODUCTION car

howdy all .... great reading ..... ok the question was or is ..... what is the fastest production car? ..... the key word alot of you unfortunatly keep missing is ...PRODUCTION ...... so putting emphasis on the PRODUCTION part of the question there is no contest ..... the F1 rules hands down and has for 10 years PERIOD...... now saying that it may not rule soon.... AFTER the CC or Dauer come out in PRODUCTION .... and are independantly tested ....as for the bugatti its back to the drawing board on the body design ... also watch for the other big boys to try and knock the f1 from its perch ferrari, lambrigini ... etc .... might be a year or two away yet though :P

The Dauer is about a decade old!

Probably get loads of arguments over this, there always is. This car (Ultima) shares the same top speed as the PRODUCTION Mclaren F1 it just gets there quicker. This car is a production car and comes off the assembly line as seen in the picture, no other mods at all, no playing with delimiters or ECU`s or anything. Any joe bloggs can buy one for the right cash. Alot less than an F1 I might add.

Shared the same top speed. The McLaren was later tested at 240mph+

(...interesting point is how they stress that the car used road tyres which I always insist is very important)

Makes no difference. They made and sold 11 fully road compliant cars complete with full leather equipment and CD players! Surely a car like the McLaren which was designed from scratch as a road car is a greater engineering achievement but still I consider the Dauer more of a road car than any Radical etc

Koiensegga right now holds the recored offically. I think u find all the info at the geneva auto show website. They aired a video there showing the car break the record. I must add the car didn't really flinch or shake like most cars do at very high amounts of speed so thumbs up to Koiensegga with that. But my bet is that Bugatti will break it. But who knows?

If by "quickest" you mean 0-60 0-100 or similar I don't even wanna get into that discussion! There's enough talk about dragons and fairytales in the top speed issue here and in just about every car discussion board on the planet! I'll leave you to sort out any acceleration lists!
