question about ACRYLIC PAINT and glue..

Im new is this, and Im going to paint the inside of a shelby mustang in black.. but my concern is about what is going to happen if I a glue something above the paint? the paint will have some kind of bad reaction to the glue? or, first I glue everything and then paint?

thanks!

Re: question about ACRYLIC PAINT and glue..

Modeling glue+paint=bad reaction (no resoults)
Super glue+paint=OK
First glue then paint (if possible)
Clean areas (from paint) to be glued together (I sound like Tamiya instruction manual )

Re: question about ACRYLIC PAINT and glue..

The glue will most likely dissolve the paint and make the area look nasty. If it's not visible, it doesn't matter, but paint weakens the bond, so it's recommended to avoid gluing painted areas together.

I have found during my last build that liquid cement bonds better without paint, but for painted or chrome items it made a bit of a mess. If the parts were painted and you wouldn't see the join etc, I tried to remove the paint, but then used the glue left it to desolve the paint then applied more glue after the first glue application was dry and joined the parts. Seemed to work.

If however you could see the join, I used either Microscale Clear glue or Microscale weld or very thin cement.

I also used superglue if I couldn't see the join and the parts needed a strong bond. Mostly CA type.

TBH you need all sorts of glue. I wasn't aware of this until a built my first car in years, and found I needed -

Plastic Liquid Cement
Thin Liquid Cement
CA super glue
MS Clear Glue

And also I used in certain areas Microscale Weld glue.
