A turbo question (please give opinions)

Ok im tryin to get some opinions on a turbo system im trying to put togetha.Ok first ill tell u what kind of car i have, its an 04 cavalier(automatic). Ok now the question. I was think of rebuilding a garret tbo335 turbo for my car, and i was wondering if it would be worth the trouble. I already know that i woill need to upgrade the fuel system on the stock engine. but i just want to know if u think it would be worth getting the turbo and rebuilding it...

Always Dubious of Rebuilt Turbos! Especially on a car that didn't have it as standard fit! I don't recognise the model number. Is it off of another car? You'll have to watch the wastegate as it could be set for 15psi boost or higher and although this SOUNDS good it wont when your engine blows! You will be lucky to run 9psi or more without serious problems in an EcoTec. Saying to 7-8 would be best without swapping out the pistons rods and possibly vlaves, springs and retainers! Up to about 5 psi the fuel should be ok but above that you'll need fuel system mods or you'lll lean out and detonation is on the cards! You need an Exhaust Manifold, all of the intake plumbing, more plumbing if you run and i/c which is best! Sounds like you're sourcing the turbo from a junkyard! The problem is that after you have everything together a rebuilt turbo will never be as good as new! You will be getting close to the price of an after market turbo kit which would probably be better any way! It's your call at the end of the day. If you wanted to do so as it's a large Turbo you'll need internal mods but you can get a turbo kit with a T28BB which is pretty huge! Although I know a guy in England who'se built a 75 English Ford Escort with a sierra coswrth engine and a T38. That's about the size of a dinner plate!

that's a T3. It would go up to about 15psi with the right equip. It's not really cheap enough for me to want to go buy it over a new one! It's your money though! http://www.cavalierconnection.com/online_catalog.htm there's a great kit for you. Complete. Everything you will need. The Seals and Gaskets are usually hard to get hold of. This site has any parts you will need. The Intercooler can be added for $999.

it has a NEW T3 with it. I wouldn't run more then 6psi without an intercooler or you will get the intake air getting too warm and causing detonation which sucks dick!
If you want to do internal work then, http://www.carcustoms.net/index.php?cPath=265_22_32_597 they have pistons to drop the compression ratio to 8.9:1. You run 10:1 stock and an Evo runs 8.8:1 with 15 psi boost. You can get s/steel valves etc.
I'd say go with the kit as you will have lots of trouble making a complete set-up!
