whats under your hood

would everybody tell me the swap that you have put in your 4th gens and why you went with that swap. Iam getting ready to do a swap myself and I am scared i might make a wrong decision and this will be something i will have to live with for a couple years. thank you.

Re: whats under your hood

b16a with a 92-93 GSR transmission.

went with it cause i got a whole CRX parts car with the engine in it for only 1200 bucks.

used the GSR transmission (YS1) because the original S1 had a cracked case, and i got the GSR one for 100 bucks from a friend (had a bad set of gears in the differential, swapped it out and its good to go)

edit: forgot to mention, i rebuilt the b16a myself in automotive school, and then rebuilt the transmission in my spare time at work

Re: whats under your hood

Will be doing a Y7 SOHC swap in a few weeks with a Si tranny. I got a Hf so this a step up for me. Just make out a budget and make it out like 500 to 1k more just in case turds happened and remember to rebuild all new gaskets and seals, belts, balance the bottom end depending on year of the engine. a b16a 1st gen can be swapped for around 3k i know quite a few ppl with a b16 crx and they all did it for right around 3200.00 all OEM parts. and they did all the labor.

Re: whats under your hood

D16A6 replaced blown high compression engine. Used redneck Honda mechanic in western SC. I spent too much money and got shitty work done. Stayed with Si engine cuz I had lots of bolt-ons already. I had Si tranny and clutch replaced at a more reputable Honda shop. I have been tinkering with crap even though I'm not a mechanic. My car runs good but pisses me off. Needless to say, owning a CRX in this area is the worst.

I had a JDM Black Top DOHC ZC with USDM Si transmission installed. It was chosen basically for its simplicity and price, not to mention it's a direct replacement.

Re: whats under your hood

B16eh (Canadian version) with JDM S1 tranny.

I went with it because I was LSD shopping for my ZC and it turned out I could get the entire B16 swap minus the mounts for less money than a Quaiffe would cost for my ZC. (AAND the ZC didn't have the potential I was wanting)

Well minus the LSD, but that will be soon fixed

How did you manage those numbers???

For me I have a d15b with an a6 head/cam and mpfi swapped on. I put the a6 head on when my original distributer went out and I felt like doing an mpfi at the time. I will eventually be dropping in a b20 for the torque, its good for autocross and so I can whoop up on those weak b16 ef's
