2nd o2 sensor

I have a 97 tsi awd and i just ordered the rre downpipe with the test pipe. My question is, that i saw some people talking about wrapping the 2nd o2 sensor in foil to keep the cel from coming on. So i was wondering if i am supposed to put it back into the hole or keep it outside and tie it up somewhere. Thanks for the help.

Tie it off somewhere. Also it would be a good idea to cover it with something like a plastic bag so water dosent get in and stuff.

Re: 2nd o2 sensor

If there is a hole in the test pipe, put it in. If there is no hole, use the tin foil and make sure it doesn't break.

Re: 2nd o2 sensor

if he puts it in with a test pipe then he will get a CEL. wrap it in foil or pack it with jbweld(havent tried this one but it should work) then put it back in the hole

Re: 2nd o2 sensor

you can just stick it out of the way but then you need to plug the hole in the test pipe. btw a spark plug is the same threads and size as the o2 sensor so you can plug the hole with a old spark plug.
