I finally got the plugs changed in the ' 99 LTZ. I have the bruises and almost five hours of time to prove it. The probelm for wasn't removing the plugs. Believe it or not, that really wasn't bad. The problem was removing those welded on spark plug wires. All of thime was in the effort to remove. The new AC wires and plugs got plenty of grease in those boots.

I didn't have to "roll" the engine forward. Wouldn't have made any difference. The wires on the front were as painful as the rears. Good luck to you if you perform this venture yourself.

Starts better and runs smoother.

If you spray the boots with Wd-40 about 15 mins before you start, and give each boot a twist before pulling, they come right off.

You know, I thought about it but I had so much trouble gripping them I thought I would have had a slick mess. Hopefully I don't have to do it anymore soon but I will keep a can in case.

They had metal covers over them. I didin't put them back on. I was so mad, they went to the garbage can. I wonder if I should have put them on the news. They were crimped around the ends of the originals. If I should have, where do I get them?

The 3.8 doesn't like rolling much, its wider (90 degree instead of 60 degree), though I found it pretty easy to get to both banks on a 98 Monte Carlo 3800. Stock wires were Delcos, popped off with a bit of effort. I guess its just luck of the draw.

yeah i guess. just recently did mine, had a bit of difficulty getting the wires off initially but all went well with some patience. aside from some bruises from leaning on that damn hood prop clip. and of course, oil on the spark plug closest to the driver.


any ideas how much rolling could be done? the dog bone bolt hole was about an inch off (the hole was visible outside the dogbone bracket) could i have rolled her more?
