I have synrco issue....

On my 89 HF, which has an b16a2 (i think thats the engine code for 2nd gen b16), which has the YS1 tranny. Well when I shift into 3rd from 2nd at a rpm higher then 3, I get a very loud and unpleseasnt grind. This also occurs if you go from 3rd to 5th. I know the 3rd gear synrco is gone, so I was wondering what is a good place or anything helpful when getting a new syncro? Also how difficult is a hydrolic clutch conversion? What is required to do the conversion?

Also is it possible to convert the YS1 to an LSD tranny while I am at it? Any info would be appreciated..

Why do you shift from 3rd straight to 5th gear? Or did you mean 4th? I would just take it to a transmission shop. In my area (Los Angeles) you can get your tranny rebuilt with new bearings and synchros for around $650 including labor. Or you can just buy some synchros and make it a weekend project if you have all the right tools.

Re: I have synrco issue....

No, I actually meant 3rd to 5th. I have to take I-10 everyday to work, so when I wind out 3rd gear I'm doing 80 merging onto the freeway, whos limit is 65...
