Alero problems

I have a 2000 Alero I bought used with 42,000 miles. I have had just about every problem I have seen listed on this site with my car. Wheel bearings replaced in front twice, water leak from dash, blinkers (not recalled on my car but EXACT same problem), ignition switch replaced a few months ago, and now every now and again when I go to start it the security light comes on flashes and it will turn over but not start. I really have had nothing but problems with this car since I bought it and now I am stuck with this piece of garbage with 103,000 miles for another 2 1/2 years.

Re: Alero problems

I guess I got lucking with mine. I have a 2000 and have only replaced the LIM gasket which isn't an Alero specific problem.

I also owned a 2000 Alero GLS. At 60k the LIM Gasket went out. Then I replaced the hazard warning switch. Then I replaced the blower motor switch. In between that I've also replaced the front wheel bearings. I've also had the "mystery" clunk in the front end. I believe it has something to do with some bushings in the LC arm. The rear defroster was also on the fritz, it managed to fix itself somehow.

Needless to say I unloaded that car about 2 weeks ago. It's someone else's problem now. I now own a Mountaineer. I will never, ever own another GM product ever again.
