Question front axels

i was wondering whats the piece fron the half shaft to the axel on a 1988 charokee.

The inner shaft is the "axle shaft". The outer shaft is called the "intermediate shaft".

the front end on my 91 shakes severely every time i hit bumps or brake hard . ball joints are all new. everything looks fine. any comments?

First check is the stabilizer. Thats the horizontal shockabsorber on your steering linkage. Look for leakage around the rod. Disconnect one end and check the resistance as you push and pull on it. If it hasnt ever been changed on a 91, then I would just put a new one on...

Could also be caused by a slight play in the track bar or a combination of slight loosness in several of the steering joints.

If the shimmy is induced just by applying the brakes, the rotors could be warped.

i had the same problem with mine i picked up my little boy from school and it wobbeld so damn bad it bout threw him out the window so yesterday i put on a skyjacker stabalizer and jks quick disconnects and the problem is solved thank god. even though it cost $180
