What is "a lot"?

Error could be just that, compression bypass into engine crank chamber.

Do compression test to check for possible piston ring problem.

If u say one qt per week, I read its leaking...?
One qt per 1000miles is not bad [but maxima it should be none]

Oil burn has two causes [burn, not leak]:

1. Piston rings do not wipe oil down as they travel, get combusted. Major overhaul. Check by compression tst.

2. Valve seals. Can be changed while engine on using compressed air into cylinder under operation [keeps valves from falling]. 2hours? plus parts 50$?

Re: 99 I30 oil burner

i'm told my problem could be a clogged pcv valve causing the oil burning. worth a try to change it , but i can't seem to find it. can anyone tell me were it is located. the thing is small i'm sure i looked right at it already.

Re: 99 I30 oil burner

well it's ben a couple of weeks and the oil burning has stopped. so check that pcv valve or just replace it. it cost less than 2 qts of oil.

Good to know, thanks. Chances are, lifetime goes without any pcv problem.
