1989 Jeep Cherokee won't start
My 1989 Jeep Cherokee won't start. I saw on your forum this morning to try jumping the ballast to see if that was it and it wasn't. The wires to the crank sensor seem fine. yet it still won't start. Does anyone have any more ideas for what may be wrong before I start feeling I have to replace part after part if I don't have to. Thanks.
Could it be a bad ground. and if so can oil on the ground on the engine block cause this problem of it not starting. |

Re: 1989 Jeep Cherokee won't start
First, check and see if you have spark at the plugs. Remove a plug wire, insert a screwdriver, hold it close to a grounded portion of the engine, have a friend crank it. It should be a good solid "blue" color. Next after trying that find what looks like a bicycle tire nipple(where you hook up the tire pump), remove the plastic cap, press the valve, you should get a good spray of fuel. If not you might have to get pressure check on your fuel system.

Does the starter try to crank? Do you hear any noises when you turn the key? Does the engine try to start?
