Question door trim panel removal?

I would like to upgrade the factory speakers (04 EXT LS). The speaker grill is part of the door trim, so it looks like I will have to remove the whole trim panel. I started popping out the plastic rivet-things along the bottom and sides... got to the top and I couldn't tell how to proceed. Do I need to remove the door handle/lock mechanism, or does it disconnect from the trim panel, and if so, how? I started on the left rear, but I'll need to do all four doors. TIA...

Re: door trim panel removal?

You need to remove the screws on the rear panels (in pull, under covers) or the 2 10mm bolts on the front panels, in addition to the clips. Unplug the attached electronic controls, and that's it. The door handles and associated hardware stay on the door... The top of the panels just clip in a track on the top of the door channel....lift right off.

Thanks, lkurek -- that's exactly what I was looking for. I'll pull them this weekend and take a look at the speakers.
