GST vs. 04 Sentra SER

I had been studying all night and needed a reward for my studying. What better reward than to go hunting for a race?

Anyway, I'm driving along looking for someone who looks like they want to go. I got my windows down so I can hear someone from far away. The light turns green about 3 lights ahead of me and I hear a VERY loud exhaust, definitely not some honda fartcan as it sounded rather mean. I catch-up to see that it's a bright yellow 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R. Looks interesting.

I can definitely tell it's catless because it was LOUD. I get up next to him and give it some gas in 3rd goind about 40 just to get the turbo going and give off a little PSSSSHHHHH. It definitely gets his attention as he revs the shit out of his enging. I put it in 2nd and shoot off to about 60 just to let him know I was intersted. He does the same. We catch a red light right next to each other. Perfect right? NO, there's a police station about 100 feet from us.

I yell, "Hey is there a place around here we can get a clean run in"

He says, "yeah, follow me."

We go through some weird road I've never been on and it hits a highway, perfect. We both take a right onto the access road and he yells, "On three honks ok?"

We're both going about 15 mph in first. Three honks later, we're off. I floor it in first, bad idea, I break grip around 20mph and have to shift into 2nd way too early. He gets about 3/4 of a car on me cause of this. All through second I play catch-up. 40..50..60...I shift into 3rd at around 65, and start to get past him. I have about 1/4 of a car lead at around 85, then I hear him shift into 4th. (what the??) Anyway, I shut off at the end of 3rd, about 1/2 a car ahead.

We pull into some gas station and talk for a bit. He says he's got intake, headers, full exhaust (no cat) among some other minor things. He also said he ran a 14.3 at the track. (hard for me to believe, although he did have 2 more people in the car)

We talk abit, he tells me where the faster cars meet and when. Then a cop starts circling around us (on the streets), so we decide to leave before he gets his panties in a wad.

It was a good race. I honestly think he would have beaten me if he didn't have the extra two people with him. But I know if we started from a 2nd gear pull around 40 I would have easily had him also. He was a cool guy though. All in all a good race. If i run him again without the extra people in his car, I'll let ya'll know.

Re: GST vs. 04 Sentra SER

Those extra people in the car probably made all the difference...run him without his excess ballast and tell us how it goes!

Damn, finally someone on here admitting they think the only reason they beat someone is because they had extra passengers. Great job! You coulda just as easily left out the him having two passengers and tried to pretend you run 13s. I'm proud of you.

I don't know if he necessarily implied THAT was the only reason he won...he just said it helped his cause.

Re: GST vs. 04 Sentra SER

1/2 car length win, around 350 lbs extra for him. Yeah, he probably would have edged me out without the passengers.

Then again 20mph in 2nd gear isn't exactly in my powerband either.

I'll race him again Friday minus the passengers and post the results here.

also, street_racer, is that G-Tech accurate enough to warrant a $200 purchase in your opinion???

Re: GST vs. 04 Sentra SER

Well, I have the ghettoer cheaper g-tech...and I can't tell you if it's accurate enough, because I've never been to the track(embarrassed)...I think it's still a pretty cool toy though!

I was thinking about buying a gtech...but $200..damn..I can almost buy a diablosport predator for that and tune my fuckin' car. I'll stick to the dragstrip.

Edit: "dang son, does that thing got v-tech?" "naw yo, it gots G-TECH!!!!!!"

hahaha i think teh G-tech is pretty accurate. i ran it down a deserted road, and me spinning, then bogging, then falling off boost in first then hit boost, and shifting slow i ran a 14.9 @100mph lolz. ( my speedo was reading 110mph before the 1/4 ended though ) that sounds about right, since my speedo is really inaccurate above 100mph i believe. my friend with the EVO ran a 13.8 with me in it on the G-Tech and hitting the brakes early becauase he wasn't familar with the road.

Nice race. I think he would have had you if it weren't for the passangers. Get some mods done to your car instead of the g-tech.
