I have a 2000 Honda Civic DX with 75,000 miles, just had the whole exhaust replaced except the catalytic converter, It fell all on the floor while driving.
I also had the primary O2 sensor replaced back in June of 2004! Now in the morning, when I go to start the car, I hear a rough shake and when I accelerate from a stopped position, the car seems to have a shake and hesitation. Its seems as if you want to press the gas and give it more power to relieve the hesitation. The car had new wires and plugs put in around 50,000. Has anybody out there had this same issue? And if so, whats the cure. Thanks, Louie |

First.. How did your whole exhaust just "fall" to the ground? You must of been high centering that thing a lot..
Anywho- I replaced my battery/plugs and all of the problems went away. Try the battery. All the o2 sensor would do is be a cheap way to get more fuel dumped into your car. That's what most of those "30 dollar horse power gains" really are. They just fool your ECU into thinking "Hey my air/fuel mixture is very lean so.. more fuel!" |

Well I just had a new battery put in last October, but as far as the exhaust, it fell on the floor cause it was just to old! I will try to replace the plugs, thats if it helps.
Why is that theres no hesitation after like 20mph or higher, its oly at low speeds. I was thinking of cleaning the IAC and throttle body, also I would like to replace the distributor, rotor and coil! what do u guys think, will it help? Thanks, Louie |

Is it possiable for a 6-7 month old Upper Oxygen Sensor to go bad from a leaky exhaust, I also heard that the lower Oxygen Sensor does not cause these problems, is this true.
P.S. There is no check engine light on either, Thanks Louie |

more than likely your car has a bad TPS sensor and if your car has a rough idle try turning up the idle on it |

Is it possiable to have a bad TPS sensor with no PCM codes? Now at when ever I press the gas @ any speed, It seems like it want to cut out, but if u give it gas its fine. Also what about the distributor, it has never been changed, can that be a problem.
Thanks Guys Louie |

Well took a scan tool to the car and retrieved the pcm codes,
P0301 | The scan tool indicates Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0301: Cylinder 1 misfire detected. [F03O2l 16"""untool indicates Diagnostic Trouble code (DTc) P0302: Cylinder2 misfire detected. [FO3Ofl 16" ".un toot indicates Diagnostic Troubte Code (DTC) P0303; Cylinder 3 misfire detected. I P0304 I ths..rr tool indicates Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) PO3O4: Cylinder 4 misfire detected. It seems all cylinders are bad, Can it be the ignition module? Louie |

Re: Poor acceleration/hesitation HELP PLEASE
Could be spark plugs, plug wires, coil, injectors, distro cap, rotor, fuel pressure, valves need adjustment. Or worst case scenario, blown piston rings. It didn't throw any other codes besides those?

Well it turned out to be a old distributor cap and rotor.
I measured the resistance of the spark plug wires and they didnt exceeds 25 k ohms, so I didnt replace them. Also checked the ignition coil and it was within specs, Primary Winding Resistsnce {Between the A and B terminalsl: 0.63 - 0.77 k Secondary Winding Resistance (Between the A and secondary winding terminals): 12.8 - 19.2 k I then changed the plugs & fuel filter also and now the car runs great! Thanks for all your help, Louie |

Re: Poor acceleration/hesitation HELP PLEASE
My 99 Civic EX also threw misfire codes like crazy (every single trip) over a period of one week at around 75,000 miles. I replaced everything you mentioned, including plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, air filter, dumped some Chevron techron fuel system cleaner in the fuel tank and had Autozone clear all the codes several times to test. None of that worked. Lo and behold, the next time I filled up the tank with fresh gasoline at Sam's club, the problem went away immediately. So it turns out that my wife admitted to me that the day that all the misfire codes started occuring, she filled up with gas at a place she normally doesn't...called Fantasy's in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm telling everybody out there in Omaha corn cob land to NOT buy gas from Fantasy's because it's pure fermented corn cob garbage gas.
