Looking to swap the 2.4L out of my 90' Stanza and drop in a 97'+ Nissan Maxima V6. 250HP here I come .I'm hoping to get the engine and manual transmission from a local salvage yard. Anyone know of any problems that I'm going to run into? Will I have to get the computer out of a Maxima too? Has anyone attempted such a thing? Right now I have just made the body on my Stanza near flawless... and it's ready for paint. I have also been buying parts for a slamming stereo. Now I just need a wing and a 250HP engine to back it up. ![]() Let me know if ya have any ideas for me. And no, I don't want to buy a new car. :finger: |

Yeah, OK. You do realize what kind of job that is don't you?
Mounts: The mounts won't match up, that's for sure. And you might have problems such as having to relocate something in order to have proper mounting for your 6. Exaust: Now you obviously are going to use the factory manifold or header and I'm not sure how high or low your pipe will come down at the front of the car. If it is exactly the same height, then it's fine. If not you'll have a hard time. Tranny: You should measure how much distance there is between the shifer hook up to the tranny and the shifter itself. If it's different, you'll have to cut your floor. UNLESS... the Maxima is a cable shifter, but I doubt it. Suggestion: The best way to do the swap is to install the engine temporarly and make the adjustments necessary then to take the engine out and paint your car. That way, you don't care about minor cratches as you setting the engine into place, AND... you get to paint the engine bay at the same time. Wiring: Yes, you will need the Maxima computer, and maybe the gauges because of the wiring of the spedometer, lights, etc. Oh yeah, check if the axels will fit off the Stanza. I doubt it. You will probably have to go with Maxima 'cause of the size of the wheel bearings. If the Maxima has 5 lug then you will have to go with the Maxima brakes and different wheels for the front. Big job anyway. Why don't you just go with the Japaneese SR20DET from the Sentra SE-R. 230 hp Turbo. Easier maybe. They have a very similar engine in the Jap Stanza (Bluebird) so every thing is a bolt in. The turbo also. Yes Bluebirds are turbo.

TeamNSE are morons, the guy you're after is Cory (aka OneFastStanza) who is currently the main candidate for the sr20det transplant in a stanza. check out www.stanzadriven.com to check out his car, it's niiiiiiceee.....
Anyway, you might benefit from working the ka24e...guy by the name of norman brown has run mid 14's with minimal work, putting out about 180hp. :evillaugh

I have a maxima myself and with its 190hp its got some fun acceleration in it. I think i have more fun driving my friends 90' 240sx just because its Rear weel drive. I'd love to get a sr20det or a rb20det or (not so realisticly) a rb26dett but i'd make sure the car was rear weel drive, not that wussy FR crap that i'm so used to.
